Odisha Vigilance to Seek Pension Stoppage of Convicted Officer Following Court Verdict

Bhubaneswar: In a significant judgment, the Hon’ble Special Judge, Special Court, Bhubaneswar today convicted Sri Raghunatha Mallick, Former Assistant Drugs Controller, Bhubaneswar (Retired), in a disproportionate assets (DA) case registered by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The court sentenced Mallick to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,00,000. In case of default in payment, additional legal provisions will apply as per the court’s order.
The case pertained to allegations that the accused public servant had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during his service tenure. Following a detailed investigation and filing of the charge sheet by Odisha Vigilance, the court found him guilty of the charges.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance has announced that it will move the competent authority to initiate the stoppage of pension of the convicted officer in accordance with government rules and procedures.
